2023 Canadian Co-Owners Survey

Key highlights from the release include:

Almost one third (32%) of co-owners who were motivated by low affordability purchased their home after the Bank of Canada began raising interest rates in March of 2022
Nearly two-thirds (65%) of Canadian co-owners say they own a single-family detached property
56% of co-owners co-own a home with their parent(s) or parent(s)-in-law; 18% co-own with their adult child(ren)
Nationally, 6% of homeowners co-own a property with someone other than their spouse
According to an internal survey of real estate professionals within the Royal LePage network, 23% say that they have seen somewhat of an increase in the number of homebuyers purchasing a property with another person(s), other than their spouse or significant other, compared to pre-pandemic times, while 25% have seen somewhat of an increase since the Bank of Canada increased rates in March of 2022.

Ecuador Challenge for Shelter Fundraising

Women’s shelters in Canada need our support now more than ever to fund their life-saving and life-changing work. As we emerge from the COVID pandemic, shelters across the country are reporting rising rates of domestic violence and more women than ever who are reaching out for help. While most of our lives have returned to normal, there are women and children in all corners of the country who are now fleeing the danger within their homes and working to rebuild their future after experiencing domestic violence.
I plan to help and I hope you will join me in making a difference!

Thanks again for those who were amazing enough to support me in 2019 where I hiked in the Sahara desert to raise funds for this incredible cause that's dear to my heart. Well in November 2023 I'm giving it another go... I will be heading to Ecuador to trek 5 days towards one of the highest active volcanoes in the world! During this high-altitude adventure, I will be hiking long days across varied terrain in unpredictable mountain weather. I’ll be camping in a tent and going without cell service, electricity, bathroom facilities and other comforts of home. This trek will not be easy but it will be immensely worthwhile. Each step I take and every dollar I raise will support courageous women and children in my community who are seeking safety and hope for a life free from abuse. Important to note that I cover all my own costs and travel expenses so all donations go to support this worthy cause (80% to our local shelter and 20% to national programs).
